La Maddalena and Caprera
COACH, FERRY & WALKING
Once left the holiday village by coach, we go to the harbor of Palau and then we embark for the island of La Maddalena, the biggest in the archipelago. From here, following the south coast, beyond the Ponte della Moneta (Coin Bridge), we reach the Island of Caprera. We will stay here all the morning, among beaches set in granite, military batteries and museums, panoramic points, stories of great deeds and sailors' traditions of men of the past. Here we pass through Cala Garibaldi and Compendio Garibaldino, dedicated in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the Hero of the Two Worlds, who chose to live and be buried here in Caprera. We will then visit Poggio Rasu Military Opera and then the village of Stagnali. We reach the village by coach and here we can visit Poggio Baccà, the Geo-mineralogical Museum, the Museum of the Sea and Maritime Traditions and Italy in Miniature. We walk to a place where we can have our lunch and some relax. In the early afternoon, we depart comfortably by coach for a relaxed after lunch, admiring the land and sea of these islands, until we reach Opera Colmi and the famous Chapel of the Madonnetta, with their photographed views. Another coach trip and then a stop at the French Quarry Museum, before heading to the small village of La Maddalena, for a walk among colorful shops and white maritime-style houses. The ferry is waiting for us to come back (18:00), first to Palau and then by coach back to our starting points, with our eyes and minds full of spectacular places, happy and rich with moments to remember!
